CHILD & ADOLESCENT COUNSELING

Our youth live in a complicated, social media saturated world and are under different types of stress and pressures than prior generations. In their current stage of development, adolescents may not handle social, family and academic pressures and problems in the most healthy ways. Factors, such as, trauma, attachment, genetics, environment and more may contribute to these issues.

At LFI, we provide a safe, trusting environment in which your child can express his or her thoughts and feelings while learning new skills to communicate more effectively, manage emotions, build confidence and adjust to new situations. Our therapy animals are here to enhance treatment experiences through promoting connections, reducing anxiety and bringing joy and relaxation to therapy sessions.

TRANSFORMING ANXIETY GIRLS GROUP

The best use of imagination is Creativity. The worst use of imagination is Anxiety.

6-Week Girls Group

LFI’s Transforming Anxiety groups are designed to offer insight and tools to help your child find relief from anxiety and learn how to deal with life’s stressors in healthy ways.

This group is facilitated by Kristi Maxwell, Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Provider. She utilizes nature-based stress reduction and animal-assisted psychotherapy to enhance treatment methods and create a deeper connection for your child. Kristi & our therapy animals can help your teen identify, understand and address what is fueling his or her anxiety. While our therapy animals provide a unique non-verbal avenue for processing emotions, group benefits also include: Resiliency building & acceptance, peer support & connections, increase in distress tolerance, goal & intention setting, trust, breath work and coping skills, self compassion & gratitude, self regulation techniques and neurologically informed psycho-education.

This group will provide your child with the knowledge and skills to transform anxiety so they may live the life they want to live.

CHICKS ON THE FARM

6-Week Girls Group

Utilizing a strength-based, experiential approach, this group works to build positive life skills improving our youth’s ability to manage feelings, deal with life stressors, navigate social situations, enhance confidence, create boundaries and live mindfully. Nature art, tree houses, yoga, team building, gardening and donkey grooming are some of the farm activities that will encourage emotional resilience and empower them to reconnect to what matters.

YOUTH YOGA & MINDFULNESS

Yoga and mindfulness are an important component of our wellness offerings for youth. Evidence of yoga’s benefits include improved physical fitness, better emotional balance, improved resilience, mood, and self-regulation skills related to emotions and stress.

Research in neuroscience has linked a regular practice of mindfulness to numerous benefits for youth including reduced stress and anxiety, improved grades and performance on standardized tests, and increased attention and concentration.
